However, to save money, you can reset the switch yourself as long as you make absolutely sure the electrical current to the oven has been disconnected. This is the most important step. Never attempt to dismantle any component of any oven without cutting the electricity to it. If your oven is part of a range, the faceplate outlines the front of the oven behind the door. If your oven is part of a wall-mounted double oven, the faceplate may outline both ovens. Put the screws in a safe place and carefully pull the faceplate away from the oven. On most Dacor ovens it will be installed along the top edge of the oven. Consult your Dacor oven user manual to find the switch for your model. The switch will be about the size of a dime and have wires running to and from it. It will have a small red button on top. This is the reset button. Screw the faceplate back onto the oven. Turn the electrical power back on and test the oven. If the oven still doesn't heat, call a qualified repair technician. If the oven heats for a short time and stops again, do not repeat this procedure. Call an authorized service technician because the switch is tripping because of another problem that needs to be addressed. The filter was still spotless as the cooking we had done was all baking and casseroles, so there were no splatters at all in the oven. I had actually considered this as a possibility, but I could not find any mention of such a warning in the manuals or anywhere on the internet. It explains when the indicator will appear and how to clear it. Q Comments (217) We completed our kitchen renovation, and went with the frigidaire professional refrig and freezer since the electrolux icon was sold out and the new ones are not available until fall. The insides are exactly the same, the difference is that the handles are shorter than full length, but still plenty long and beefy. Also went with the frigidaire pro oven and microwave convection oven. These are actually a little bigger in terms of inside space than the electrolux icon. And less expensive. The oven controls are very simple (dials not a touchpad) and works great. Microwave is a bit more computer-y but easy once you use it a bit. Would have preferred no space in between the units but oh well. All of it works great, looks great, and we are very pleased. Many of the reviews state that it is beautiful to look at but parts are a nightmare to get as many are no longer manufactured. Is there a trouble shooting guide you are aware of which I've not seen? This manual goes into detail regarding tests and fault codes for service personnel, as well as repair methods. RESET UPR will reset the upper or a single oven, RESET LWR will reset the lower oven on units equipped with two ovens. Our oven was a store display model that was built in 2005. I had to get the techs out and they needed to replace a blower fan and circuit board on the lower oven. I dacor is very proud of their motors considering what they charge for them. It had been only used twice. Froze up. This company doesn't do well by their customers. We had some problems with the entire oven and made them replace the main circuit board. However, there were updates to the blower motors and circuit board we didn't know about until it was too late. Our home warranty policy that covered the appliances, however, did. Our household has agreed that self-cleaning ovens are just problems waiting to happen. We had a Bosch convection double oven that the burned up the convection elements every time the oven was put into the self clean mode. Besides, the enclosed heating elements make clean up much easier. Do you like it? It's a pricey oven so want to get real reviews vs the salesman at the store that's pushing it. Please let me know. Thanks I do like the technical aspect of the system (I'm a guy who sells very high end electronic power measuring test equipment). As far as reliability is concerned, I've got my fingers crossed.

I have spoken to customer support a couple times already (as evident by this thread) and each time I kinda had to step carefully just to get my point across. But once they felt I really needed help, and was not simply calling to complain, everything when smoothly. I actually had them send a repair item out before the oven was installed because I could see a potential problem. There were several very small chips in the porcelain about where you'd think the flexible gasket would touch. Of course, I should not have had to do this at all, but in the scheme of things such items are trivial. I installed the oven myself, and am prepared for all contingencies should the oven require removal from the wall for service. For every new dish we make, we are consulting the instructions and using the on-screen Dacor Guide. Should we need to constantly refer to the instruction manual?. probably not.but I like gadgets so I'm giving Dacor the benefit of my doubts. We decided to give the roast an extra 10 minutes cooking time which raised the internal to 160 (following an additional ten minute rest. The meat was truly outstanding. I agree with Mrtimewise that the meat probe seems to undercook a little. Dacor service has been wonderful for me. My original double wall oven was the classic Epicure and when the initial repair for the excessive condensation between the glass panels on the door failed to correct the problem they offered to replace the oven with the new Millenium Discovery model or buy back my original one. I was one of the first to alert them to the non-beeping meat proble and it took their engineers several months to correct the problem. I did buy the extended warranty because it was a new model oven and I just wanted that piece of mind. Last month my cooling fan wouldn't shut off and they replaced both fans and controller boards.

The meat probe should beep louder or beep twice - you only get one chance and if you miss the beep then the oven automatically goes into keep warm mode and the temperature drops. I also wish the control panel gave a continuous read out of the oven temperature. If it can show the temperature for the preheat mode why not show it whenever the oven is on? Here's a couple more. I suspect Dacor engineered the system the way it is now not so much to conserve power but rather as a method to prolong the brightness of the fancy LED backlighting illumination. LEDs do lose their brightness as they age, so turning the LEDs off when the oven is not in use absolutely does prolong the display's bright output for many years. Still, it would be nice to always have the clock visible. I can imagine that Dacor thought the larger digits might help make the clock readable even when the lighting is off. Also, at night, when there is no other lighting on in the kitchen, I do see a very, very small glow to the display. Have any other owners of the Discovery series noticed this nearly invisible glow when your kitchen is totally dark? This strongly suggests that relays to energize the lights in each oven are individually activated.I'll have to check for your barely visible glow when I get back home. Here's another lighting suggestion. The light doesn't illuminate the top tier so if you're broiling on the top rack you can't see what's happening. My husband was really annoyed with that. But I do love the full extension glide racks. I haven't had any issues with the procelain chipping but Dacor replaced sshrivastava's oven because of that problem. You can do a search under the name to read the posts about that. Frequently Asked Questions about Dacor Appliances How do you unlock a Dacor oven.

Hold down the cancel button for 10-20sec. Depending on model it may even beep to let you know its completed and unlocked. Why won’t my Dacor oven heat up after self-cleaning. The problem is that the switch sometimes trips when you self-clean the oven, because of the high temperature used during the cleaning cycle. The self-clean cycle heats the oven to 800 degrees to burn off spills and residue. If this happens, you can reset the thermal switch by pressing the red reset button. Why does my Dacor wall oven keep beeping. When the ERC senses a short circuit in the oven temperature sensor for 16 temperature conversions in a row, F-3 will appear in the digits and a beeping will be heard. If the alarm does not go away after pressing the cancel key the problem could be the sensor and wiring. How can I reset my Dacor oven range. Open the oven door and remove the vent across the top of the oven where the door latch assembly is. Remove the vent panel. Push the red button hard until it clicks and that should reset the switch. It subsequently had a problem with the drip pan in March 2009 and was fixed on warranty. Come March 2012, the fridge was again diagnosed with the same problem. The technician told me there had been a design problem, but after three re-designs, it was remedied and should have no further problems once the new part was installed. Of course, I was livid because the fridge had been fixed in 2009 and was now off warranty. When I expressed myself originally, I was simply venting about the price of the repair without hope of a remedy. James at Dacor customer service called me promptly that next morning and left a message. We subsequently talked and he immediately got in touch with my local appliance service center. He not only worked out with them refunding my deposit for the part but also ordered two other parts that were necessary in order to fix the problem. The outcome? They fixed my fridge at no charge to me for parts or labor, and all I had to pay was the original trip and diagnosis charge. I can't begin to tell you how extremely happy and grateful I am about this. Thank you, James, for such terrific follow-through and thank you Dacor for being a top-notch business who stands behind your products! I've tried drying them for many hours and applying rubbing alcohol. The front ones do this all the time when we turn them on. When we turn the left front burner on, the front right one's igniter does it along with the left. The back ones do it occasionally, so are still usable. Apparently this is a common problem with Dacor units. Why haven't they fixed it. We've had them fix the electronic panel at huge expense, and are not going to call them again. When the back burners stop working, we'll get another unit. I've had gas stoves for 30 years and have never experienced anything like this poor quality. It's amazing that they are still in business.

We will be contacting you directly in order to gain a better understanding of the issue and how we can help in resolving this for you. It has been a decade of problems. Here is what we have experienced: Just this morning, one oven is yet again going through the cycling light problem. This is where the internal light turns on and off at random and there is no response to the button on the panel. A brief history of issues since we've owned these units: At the time of our purchase, Dacor was still offering a two-year warranty. During the warranty period, one oven would send steam out through the lower vents whenever there was any liquid in what was being cooked. This in turn would condense on the panel which then sent the oven into a number of different failure modes. This unit had at least three different control panels installed. After battling with continued problems and many, many, many calls to Dacor, they agreed to replace the steaming unit at the three-year mark. So, to Dacor's credit, they did resolve the problem. However, both ovens are installed under counters. Any water which gets onto the top of the control panel will cause a failure mode. We'd have to turn off the breaker and let the panel dry out for 48 hrs. Over the course of the many panel replacements, there seems to be an improvement in the moisture seal and the panel was less sensitive. One unit had the front glass panel fracture. When I called Dacor, they said this was due to grease splattering during the broil cycle. Huh? When I ordered the replacement part at a local parts dealer, they sort of chuckled and said that this was a common problem with Dacor ovens and that they rarely ever had to get replacement glass for other brands. I'm luckier than most in that my husband can fix just about everything. He has resoldered several of the motherboards for these units. He's replaced door hinges and also installed the new door glass.

I have no idea what the service calls would have amounted to, but the control panels, membranes, door glass, door hinges have been pricey. One unit has a door which has never closed properly. Luckily, my 15-year old KitchenAid fridge and 11-year old Miele dishwasher are rock solid. Never, ever, ever again will I purchase a Dacor appliance. We are glad that we were able to contact you directly and help you resolve the issues and your concerns. Our cooktop’s igniter continually clicks even when it is not in the light position. This only happens on the front 2 burners (the back 3 are fine). We have cleaned the unit and cleaned the igniters over and over. We have had 2 authorized Dacor service companies and another company look at our unit. Two said no fix exists; the other replaced a part after talking to Dacor and that did not fix it. When I called Dacor, they noted to get another service company and call them when they are here. I am concerned that this again will not work and I will have to pay another service fee. When they were here I asked them to replace a light in our double oven, but they noted they would have to remove the oven from the wall to do that and it would be costly, to which I said no thanks. Is it true that the oven has to be removed to replace a light. Another issue is that our double wall oven’s upper unit only gets warm to about 200 degrees. Another issue is that the microwave door open button does not move the door, we have to push it and pull the door open by hand. I have turned to Dacor service and to our local service techs and we are at our wits’ end. Any help here? Our records show that we last heard from you in 2009, and that was only in regard to the cooktop. We had suggested some tips to try and were awaiting more information from you (specific model number and serial number for the cooktop) if those tips did not resolve the issue.

We will be contacting you directly in order to explore some options in assisting you in resolving these matters.I have called back twice, once in the morning and once in the evening and left messages. I've yet to hear back. I'm hoping that he is simply busy or on vacation and that I was just not a required check mark on his list to show he made the call. On my prior complaint it is stated someone would get in touch with me to see what they could do to help.Thank you for taking the time to relay your experience with us today, over the phone. As was discussed, we have contacted the service provider and will work quickly and closely with them and yourself to help bring this matter to resolution. Of course, if you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to contact your Dacor Customer Service representative directly. To make a long story short, after contacting Dacor directly, they made sure that the unit was fixed by providing the part directly to me and confirming that the local repair company would be willing to install it. The oven is 8 years old and in the end, what I spent seemed reasonable to get a fully functioning oven (membrane switch). They were prompt, personal and courteous in their response to me. I came away feeling that Dacor takes pride in their history and their products. They also cleared up some misconceptions that I had regarding the status of their company. Although it was frustrating to have an appliance not work properly, I feel that the customer service Dacor provides makes their company one worth sticking with. That makes a big difference in today's impersonal world. If you have any future concerns or questions, feel free to contact us directly! The first refrigerator that was delivered did not work when it was installed and was returned immediately. I had to wait for Dacor to send another one and I have had to pay several service calls each time since that point.

Both of my items have been discontinued and Dacor reimbursed me for half of what I paid for the dishwasher, which did not even cover all of the repair calls that I had paid for ongoing service. At that dealing, I got tired of paying for repair calls for the refrigerator due to excessive icing in the freezer; supposedly there was a quick fix right after I had the unit installed and it did not fix the issue. In addition, I have called Dacor numerous times about the refrigerator door not sealing and the refrigerator making all kinds of strange noises. They told me it was the seal, so I had the seal replaced and that was not the issue. This is the second product that has recall issues and multiple problems. I am sure that with my documentation, a judge would have no problem agreeing that I have paid way too much and put in way too much time and energy into getting a decent appliance into my kitchen. I would never recommend Dacor to anyone. We also did receive your direct contact via our website. At the beginning of March 2009, it began to have a problem. He said it was the drip pan so he installed the new part and said it was fixed. It was on warranty at the time. Over the past few weeks (again in March), the fridge began to make a lot of noise when the doors were shut. I called our local appliance store and they tell me it is the drip pan and it is in need of the same exact part. He said that this has been a problem with these fridges and that this has been redesigned about three times. He tells me that this time the problem should be fixed. Of course, I'm extremely angry since this is the same, exact problem that was supposedly fixed while my fridge was on warranty. The cost is ridiculous and I'm angry that it appears to be a problem that should have warranted a recall notice by Dacor. We will be contacting you directly in order to see how we can help resolve this issue for you.

When I called Dacor, I was told that it was a cosmetic issue and was given a number to call and order the part. For a refrigerator less than a year and costing that much, I thought it should fall under its warranty. Another issue is the ice maker. It won't dispense ice and I have to always pull the ice bin and put it back in. The Dacor customer service said that it's because air gets into the ice bin when I dispense ice and that's the solution. Once again, for such an expensive refrigerator under 1 year old, I would think customer service would be more customer oriented. Never again! We will be contacting you directly in order to determine how we can further help to address your concerns. We have the manual. For some reason, after cancelling a timer, the oven locked at:4. The owner's manual was no help. The Dacor website was no help. We turned off the circuit breaker then turned it on again and finally, the oven worked. Resetting the appliance at the circuit breaker (by turning it off for about five minutes) is normally the first step in trying to trouble shoot any such issue. We are glad to hear that the oven is again functioning after the simple reset.Dacor has replaced this three times and each time it cracks again. I spoke with them about a year ago and because I didn't continue the warranty, they wouldn't replace it. I carry a home warranty. My stove looks like it came from the junkyard. I understand them not repairing a physical problem with the stove but the outside is crumbling because of a defect in their product. If you don't clean the oven, then you get an error and the only way to get it off is to clean but all that dose causes the outside to crack up more. It pains me to think of buying a new range when I thought I had done my homework, when I choose Dacor. I hope this isn't too late, but it pains me to think after another cleaning I may be forced to buy another stove.
